Implants
Dr. Shyam uses the best biomaterials and cutting-edge reputed dental implants. We take pride in our work and offer a 15 year warranty on any and all implants placed – Remember to check in with your dentist for routine maintenance and we anticipate our implants to last at least 15 years if not the rest of your life! We truly believe we are one of the best implant centers in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
The implants themselves are tiny titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. These metal anchors act as tooth root substitutes. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. Small posts that protrude through the gums are then attached to the implant. These posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.
Implants also help preserve facial structure, preventing bone deterioration that occurs when teeth are missing
For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves several steps:
- If there are any teeth, teeth fragments, cysts or lesions they would be removed and bone grafting will be completed with a mix of corticocancellous bone, demineralized bone matrix and collagen membranes or platelet rich fibrin.
- Bone healing takes 3-6 months depending on the site and one’s regenerative capacity. During this time we recommend over the counter Citracal ® to help ensure the tissues regenerated will be adequately mineralized.
- Dental implant surgery is completed to ensure the appropriate size, angulation and positioning – we offer same day temporary crowns if you would prefer not to use a flipper or removable solution for a front tooth.
- A dental implant takes 3-6 months to heal, during this time your bone will naturally grow into the threads of the implant and fuse with the surface of the implant – this is called osseointegration. Once again we recommend using over the counter Citracal ® to help ensure timely healing.
- Once the implant has healed, we ensure it has formed a strong bond with your bone through clinical and radiographic means. At this time depending on what your dentist would like us to do – we can release you to your dentist or proceed to help them with abutment and crown placement/design.
Implant dentistry has changed a lot since the early 2000s when it really began to catch on. Oral surgeons have historically been the pre-eminent experts in this field. Dr. Shyam only uses the absolute best implants with the most advanced surface coating to ensure a quick and strong osseointegration. We are also your experts for any advanced implant placement needs – sinus augmentations, ridge split procedures, block grafts, guided tissue regeneration, placement of advanced zygomatic and pterygoid implants. Whatever you and your dentist need, Dr. Shyam will accomplish and warranty. We have such confidence in our results and ensure our patients are happy because of the additional years in training, embracing what research has taught us and using the absolute best and latest techniques to get you the optimal results!
Implant dentistry is a team effort – you want a specialist with years of training and experience to place your implants while you want your trusted dentist to restore that implant with the ideal crown in occlusion.
Once you learn about dental implants, you finally realize there is a way to improve you life. When you lose several teeth – whether it’s a new situation or something you have lived with for years – chances are you have never become fully accustomed to losing such a vital part of yourself.
Dental implants can be your doorway to renewed self-confidence and peace of mind.
A Swedish scientist and orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Per-Ingvar Branemark, developed this concept for oral rehabilitation more than 35 years ago. With his pioneering research, Dr. Branemark opened the door to a lifetime of renewed comfort and self-confidence for millions of individuals facing the frustration and embarrassment of tooth loss.
There are several reasons: Why sacrifice the structure of surrounding good teeth to bridge a space? In addition, removing a denture or a “partial” at night may be inconvenient, not to mention that dentures that slip can be uncomfortable and rather embarrassing.
If you are considering implants, your mouth must be examined thoroughly and your medical and dental history reviewed. If you mouth is not ideal for implants, ways of improving outcome, such as bone grafting, may be recommended.
The majority of dental implants and bone grafting procedures are performed in the office under IV conscious sedation.
Implants are meant to replace your missing or broken teeth and will need maintenance just like your natural teeth. While the teeth you are born with are the best teeth you will ever have, with advances in implant dentistry we can provide excellent functional and esthetic outcomes for you. We are so confident in our work that we offer a 15 year warranty which is unheard of. With regular routine maintenance as defined by your general dentist, cleanings and hygiene appointments, there is a very realistic chance to keep your implants life long!
Best of all Dr. Shyam and our staff are always happy to answer any questions you may have and ensure you are making the most of your treatment.
